This picture was taken at the Kongō Sanmai-in buddhist temple in Kōya-san, Japan. This door is the entrance to the quarters of the buddhist monks living in the temple. For me, it symbolizes the doorstep to a secret spiritual world with with daily routines unknown to most of us.
